In general, Democrats are more supportive of immigration than other parties. Many times, they have supported immigrants by supporting reform in the INS to lower immigrant backlog and have stated that the party is against the exploitation of immigrants by employers in the nation. 5. Taxation
Democrats tend to support a "Progressive" tax rate system. In this system, the tax rate rises as the income rises, making the rich pay more and the poor pay less. The party is also generally not opposed to raising taxes to support government funds.
