Stance on Five Topics

1. Immigration

In general, Democrats are more supportive of immigration than other parties. Many times, they have supported immigrants by supporting reform in the INS to lower immigrant backlog and have stated that the party is against the exploitation of immigrants by employers in the nation. With bills such as the DREAM Act, the Democratic party tends to support immigration.

2. Education

The Democratic Party is very supportive of education. From Franklin Roosevelt's passing of the G.I. Bill to fund education for soldiers to President Obama doubling the investment in the Pell Grant, the Democratic Party leans more on the side of making education affordable and accessible.

3. Environment

The Democratic Party wishes to repel the effects of climate change in America. The party claims that it has put investments into clean-energy resources, and is proud of its contribution towards a sustainable country. Some reforms that that made include new fuel laws, cutting CO2 emission, and more.

4. Drug Legalization

The Democratic Party is more supportive than legalization of drugs than not.

In correlation with these numbers, east- and west-coast states have a far higher support rate, as they tend to be Democratic-leaning,"

5. Taxation

Democrats tend to support a "Progressive" tax rate system. In this system, the tax rate rises as the income rises, making the rich pay more and the poor pay less. The party is also generally not opposed to raising taxes to support government funds.
