The Libertarian Lady Liberty

There are many, many symbols that various Libertarians have adopted. The official mascot of the Libertarian Party is the Statue of Liberty. In the 1970's, the party changed its ex-logo, the "Libersign," to Lady Liberty, hoping to hold a better appeal to the better public.

The Statue of Liberty symbolizes freedom and liberty.





The Porcupine?

Although often associated with the party, the porcupine in not the official mascot of Libertarians. While some have adopted the mascot over Lady Liberty, the porcupine stands as the official mascot for the Free States project, not the Libertarian Party. The design originated from Kevin Breen's work in 2006.

The porcupine is supposed to represent a cuddly animal that doesn't hurt you as long as you don't bother it. As such, it has often been associated with Libertarian views and philosophy.
