Jill Stein one of the Green Party's 2016 presidential candidate.
Biographical information about Stein on the inter-webs is sparse.
Jill E. Stein was born on May 14, 1950 in Chicago, Illinois. She received her Bachelor's from Harvard in 1973, and she received her Master's from Harvard Medical School in 1979. It is noted that her first job ever was as a waitress, although it is not stated when or where this occurred. She is married to Richard and has two sons.
In the late 1990's, Stein became increasingly concerned about people's health in their respective environments. Although Stein has never held a governmental position, she has served on many boards including the Greater Boston Physicians for Social Responsibility, the Massachusetts Coalition for Healthy Communities, and the Lexington Solid Wastes Committee.
In the 2012 presidential election, Stein had also ran for presidency. Although she only received 0.36% of the total vote, this marked the most votes a female president candidate in the U.S. has ever been to date.
Jill Stein plans to run for presidency again in the 2016 presidential elections as the Green Party nominee.
Political Beliefs
Being a member of the Green Party, Stein wishes to bring more than just environmental messages. Besides a need to help nature, Stein believes that the U.S. also needs social reforms like reduced military spending and increased support for the homeless/disenfranchised.
One of Stein's main platforms is that she plans to bring with her a "Green New Deal." Inspired by Franklin Roosevelt's New Deal, Stein wishes to bring sustainable jobs that will help improve our natural environments. Some parts of this Green New Deal include individual food production, creating renewable energy sources, and implementing more needed social jobs.Green Page
